10 tips to settle in Spain

10 tips to settle in Spain

Spain is always fun, interesting and romantic. The Southern European country has attracted millions of people from all over the world to visit. In fact, universities in Spain receive thousands of students from abroad every year. Spain is also a comfortable home for foreign business people to invest. But before you settle in the country, there are some important things to consider. There are a number of things to consider besides Spain immigration matters

1. Choose a region

You have decided to break camp, but you do not know where to go yet. Well, you have to decide, because Spain is "big, diverse and varied". If you are a businessman, settling in the big cities like Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia is an interesting option.

2. You need the European Health Insurance Card

For the rest, Europe being Europe, it's not like you're going to Kazakhstan. For health, the European Health Insurance Card will give you the right to go to the emergency room.

3. Learn Spanish

Whether you have memories of Mrs. Perez's lessons or no idea, we all leave with our poor little linguistic background. And everyone finds themselves, in the beginning, lost in a conversation between several Spaniards, thinking that they could at least make an effort. It takes six months or even a year for the recalcitrant, to speak easily in Spanish.

4. Have a NIE and a Secu number as well

In Spain everyone has a NIE number. And this number, present on the identity card or on the resident card, is used to open a bank account, to ask the Secu, to buy a house, at all. Seems it was a pain to get the famous card, personally I waited two hours and I was given a paper for 5 years with the number. For the Secu, even faster, only a photocopy of identity document is requested from the Tesoreria General of your neighborhood.

5. Find an apartment

Most apartments in Spain are equipped with a washing machine. But if you rent in small towns, you can still find apartments in the 70s.

 6. Find a job

There, it gets rough. We wish you to be sent on a mission to Spain, because otherwise you will meet some difficulties. Another big downside: it is poorly paid, the SMIC is very low, but compared to the cost of living, we can survive. It will just be necessary to go to INEM, the local ANPE, look on the internet and above all, ask the few people we know.

7. Adapt to the Spanish rhythm

Do not expect dinner before 9pm, you will see, even the TV has adapted. Similarly, the nightclubs are empty before 2am, but what is good is that we start the day at 9am. You will understand all this when you experience the Spanish summer.

8. Socialize

A single Spaniard does not exist. You will surely see many people going out in groups of ten.

9. Give some lessons to increase your income

The Spaniards have real difficulties with English. You can prepare your classes and then put your ads everywhere in the city (shops, phone booths, walls) and on the Internet. If you find your business is growing rapidly, you should consider company register Spain.

10. Discover Spain

You are installed, happy in your little apartment and curious to discover your neighborhood. Now remains to discover Spain! If it is one of the main tourist destinations in the world, it is that there are many reasons: The mosque-cathedral of Cordoba, the Alhambra of Granada, the artistic Seville, the brilliant Barcelona, the modernity of Valencia, the natural beauty of Asturias and Galicia and many more.
